I wanted to share with you a few words from David Kirwan. Many of you will know David, who stood for the Green Party in Broxtowe in 2015. David writes:
"In the 2015 General Election I stood against Labour as the Green party candidate in Broxtowe, and 1544 people voted for me. I stood because Labour were not opposing austerity and showed little commitment to the environment and to public services. Today in 2017 things are very different. Labour now offers a real alternative to the Tories and to Theresa May - and in Broxtowe we have an outstanding candidate in Greg Marshall.Greg has a proven record on the environment, on social justice and equality and would be an amazing advocate for Broxtowe in Westminster. I want to thank all those who voted for me in 2015 but to urge you to now vote for Greg Marshall next week. Those 1544 Green votes from 2015 could be crucial in returning Greg as our MP in 2017.With Greg representing us in Parliament and working alongside the rest of the Labour team to form a government we can do much to progress the mutual aims of both Labour and Greens. There are of course debates about a 'progressive alliance', but let’s have those after the election. On Jun 8th, even if your allegiance is with the Green party, lend your vote on this occasion to Greg and start the journey to a better future for Broxtowe and the country. There is a lot to be done to protect our NHS and education services, to maintain a strong bond with our neighbours when we leave the EU, to ensure all those working in the UK continue to be welcome, to protect our environment and to maintain the fox hunting ban. Only Labour will do this.Every vote next week that is not for Greg is essentially a vote to keep Anna Soubry as our MP and Theresa May as our PM. This time there is no argument to be made over austerity - both the Labour and Green parties agree on so much. Please vote for Greg Marshall on June 8th."
Many thanks to David for such a resounding endorsement, and for allowing me to share it.
